I have two home computers.. One is mine and one is my girlfriends and she had the good graphics card in hers and I had the crappy one.. I switched hers out with mine and got mine to work fine.

It's a different story with hers though I put the graphics card that was in mine into hers and installed the drivers with the vga cord in the onboard video.. after I installed the drivers I disabled the onboard video card and hooked the vga cord into the graphics card and now when I boot it up it shows the windows loading screen and then it goes black and stays there..
 
.. another slot..? mabey he jammed it ino the PCI slot..? *shudders at thought of cracking/ scraping plastic..*
 
Even if it is PCI. You can plug it into ANY free PCI slot you want. Maybe he tried to jam an AGP card into a PCI slot or vice versa. I have seen some dude try to jam a PCI-E card into a 8X AGP slot. =_= Not a pretty sight I can tell you.
