gud day. i have an hp pavillon dv6000 series with vistahome premium.. i inserted all my efforts to revive the 3 usb ports (changed O/S, update/flash bios, use windows update and hp update) but still not recognizing any usb flash drives.. looking into device under usb..unknown device... just need help if there still a way to revive the damn usb ports....or f the problem is in the MOBO please help if there are other means so that i can use usb device to my notebook.. is it possible to use its LAN or expansion port3 using adapter to just use or connect a usb flash drive to my laptop???

It seems you have a bad motherboard if you reinstalled windows and they still don't work properly. You can try getting an expansion card that has usb ports on it, but if it was me, I would get a new laptop.

Do ANY other USB peripherals work? If other types of devices work but not flashdrives, then you may be able to work that out but if no devices work then I agree with John35, you need a new mobo or laptop.

If you want a quick and dirty way to access the flashdrive and have a network set up with another computer, you can plug the flashdrive into the other computer, share it, then access it from your laptop over the network. Not the best solution but it will work.

Hrm... I wonder: has the laptop been opened up at all? If the USB port ribbon cable is loose or was not reinstalled correctly when the machine was last opened, then the fix could be as simple as installing the cable correctly.

all other usb powered removable drives can not be detected.. i opened also the laptop and fixed the the usb cables but same problem.. maybe the mobo is busted esp. the usb ports// i.ll try to shop for expansion cards.. thanks
