Am I able to run an extra monitor off my mother board?

Actually some onboard can run two monitors. I recall seeing some Dell's with an additional PCI-Express card (basically just a DVI connector on it) and you could use it and the onboard VGA plug.

Anyway, practically all dedicated/off-board GPUs support duel displays. Assuming it has two plugs or some sort, it should support two monitors.

Yah I know this but I mean, can I run one monitor off the video card, and one off the mobo?

It's because he doesn't want to buy a VGA to DVI converter.

Tuffie.

Oh oh oh...

If the onboard video isn't disabled when using the 8500, I'd say so... I never got around to testing this when I had a PCI-Express mobo with onboard video, but I think it does disable it, much like an AGP motherboard with a slot and onboard graphics.

I haven't heard of a case with that being possible because the card takes over for the onboard.
