at first, my screen would go blank and then, immediately, come back on again, almost like someone is taking a "screenshot" of the page I am on. This happens randomnly and is not restricted to my credit card page, bank website or gmail.

Anyone any ideas what makes this happen? Thx

hi Aviation man - the frequency varies...its only happened once so far tonight but yesterday about 4 times in one hour and then stops, sometimes I don't notice it all.

usually, I'm not doing anything in the os except looking at the screen or trying to type something.

That's not necessarily true. Although it is the idea when 'spying' on someone.

Try scanning your computer with for bugs.
This is either going to be:
1) A bug on your computer
2) A monitor issue
3) A Graphics card/driver issue
4) (rare case) An OS issue
5) And POSSIBLY (but unlikely) someone hacking, but that goes into the category of "bugs on your computer". And if someone was that good that they could hack into your computer, it's highly unlikely that you'd see the screen blinking because of it.

Here's the link to Malwarebytes: www.malwarebytes.org You should do a full scan.

Google "Hijack This" , Download and run it, and post the log file it creates. mostly a list of running processes and some software information. Usually most of the stuff in there is harmless. Try upgrading your Graphics & monitor drivers.

I think it could be because of a loose cable. or even worse, your Video card decided to go Kurt Cobain on you. When you switch on your computer, run it for a while without your network , and see if the problem still persists. If it doesnt, then it could be a spyware, or even a hacker. Do a clean scan of all your files and stuff that includes the registry clean up and the antivirus. see if this helps. If that doesnt work. try restoring your computer to an earlier date.

Let me know how it goes.

That's what the Hijack this log will inform us on. And that's basically what I said :P
