Am I doing something wrong?

Ok, so I just received a replacement video card for the 1 week old Gigabyte R9 280 OC that I had to send back (RMA). The original card started artifacting and closing games at random so I returned it.

I just installed the replacement card that I received, and installed the latest drivers from AMD for it.
I load up Skyrim and it looks like glitch city. Water is having a hard time being displayed (looks like it's flat grey when it's supposed to be blue) and the image chops in and out. Animals are floating and falling, etc...

I had a Radeon HD 4890 in my PC while I was waiting for my replacement R9 280 and I had no problems at all. So now I'm confused:confused:

Am I doing something wrong? I'd really like to not have any issues with my brand new PC.

Artifacts are a common issue when you are overclocking video cards, I looked at reviews online and they look positive overall so that's most likely not the issue, although you could use AMD CCC to underclock the video card a bit and see if it fixes the issue.

Are you overclocking your CPU at all?

I have not overclocked any of my components. The video card is a factory OC.

So I just wanted to update this thread by saying I figured out my problem. I have a 144hz monitor and had to turn it down to 60hz. Once I turned it down I had no more problems.
It's disappointing that I need to reduce my monitors capabilities but it only seems to be required for Skyrim at the moment.

Did you try anything in between?
