its the power saving mode, and with current drivers, the chip will sit at that clockrate due to the memory, if it goes down to its low power state, the screens flicker on a multi-monitor setup, you need to get nvidia inspector to get it to go down to 50mhz on idle

61c is pretty hot at idle. How much airflow do you have in your case? You could up the fan speed on the GPU to get better temps. Might get loud though.

Yeah 61 is pretty hot at idle, you gpu will speed up when doing something intensive, atm it is downclocking itself as you arent using it that much, my gtx 260 does the same.

hey, sorry for the late reply,

my room is pretty hot (and a bit dusty too) but saying that, even at load it only goes to 65ish

airflow is good, but i have a feeling i might need to clean the inside of the card,

not seen any screen flicker (i run dual mon's)

another question-- in battlefield 3, it runs more or less maxed at 1600x900(native) but after a while, i get really really bad artifacting (only in 64 player games tho)

do you think thats, driver, temperature (again ~65) or my card beginning to go?

thanks again
