i was planning to buy a new socket 939 PC... but i wanted to go for a high CPU and i didnt have enough money at this time so ... anyway i thought i buy the RAMs to enjoy the speed on my current PC till i get enough money to buy the PC i wanted .... so i bought Dual Channel Kit Kingston 2*512 (Double Sided)

but now after i read some posts about how many sticks stuff, the T2 thing and the 3200 reduced to 2700 which i'm not an expert in .. i'm confused i wanted to go for the 2 GB RAM 4*512

so any advice about this ? do i have to get rid of these 2, and get 2*1024
and which is better ? single sided or double sided

if you have 4 ddr slots, than you can just order 2 more 512 sticks. if you only have 2, than yes you will have to get 2 1gb sticks. i really dont see a difference between single and double sided memory, so there shouldn't
be any problems there.

monkeysims - I don't think you realize what's being asked...

As for the problem, I really don't know the performace decrease. I havn't heard of it dropping down to PC2700, just over all slower access speeds and such. But yeah, I ran into the same problem a few months ago when debating to upgrade my machine.

I really don't think you'd notice a huge difference. Some boards actually allow you to select what mode you run in. Perhaps when you get a new PC, benchmark it in 1T and 2T modes. If there's not a huge difference, go for the extra sticks. If there is a difference, get larger capacity ones...

monkeysims... i'm not that dumb

.... well i dont want to buy the stuff and then benchmark ... i only need to know what is the real difference between single sided and double sided , 4*512 and 2*1024
on a K8N Sli

EDIT: with a 3800+ dual core

well u didnt answer my question and ur sig. is annoying :D(i'm just kidding)
but thanks for ur interest

I think you'll be just fine with 4 sticks of 512M... As long as you keep your system in duel channel mode, you should be pretty well off. Or, you could hold off on the upgrade. 1G RAM is plenty for most apps. I mean I run my laptop with no swap file, and it only has 512M and 16M taken for video!

yea but someday in the next year may be i'm gonna have to upgrade to 2 GB and i was planning to do that ... so my question is about which is better 4*512 or 1024m , single sided or double sided ... and why
thanks
