Am I secure?

Win xp home.

Seems anything you want to buy on line they ask you for credit card and pin number, saying their site is secure. Since I have resisted up to this point, is this safe?

Also does this information stay on my computer? I use Absolute Shield Internet Eraser and Ccleaner, both are the free versions. Do these programs remove all of my personal information?
Thanks

The credit card info and such you enter online to make purchases do not stay on your computer, rather, they're being stored on the servers of the sites that you made the purchases from. However, you login info maybe stored in your browser's "cookies" which you can clean up periodically without using any 3rd party progs...

I have never had any problems using credit cards for online purchases. Just ensure that the website has some form of legitimate security (Verisign or the like) and that you are sure you can trust them. Don't go giving out card numbers on ebay. If you are buying from a legitimate company that seems secure it should be fine. If you have any other problems, you could always contact your bank.

True. Never buy from spam sites, better pay more but buy product from a trusted company and there will not be any problems. I've been using my CC for 6 years on Internet (at least once a week) and only had some minor problems with paypal once, but it was solved with their support.
