Am I worthy of Oblivion?

You can play it, but don't expect max settings. Even I can play it with my rig, but the FPS drops to 1 when the enemies burst into "blood" in the sewers.
 
Well, you have much better video card than I do and a better processor, so you should be able to play it no problems on low-med settings. The 1 FPS comment is true but wasn't meant to scare you, playing the game on 1280x1024 res and AA set to x4 didn't help the FPS problems...Anyways, it's a great game even if you don't have all the eye candy on.
 
You will be able to play it better than him, but like he said, dont expect 1280X1024, 8XAA, 16XAF, textures maxed.

Damn 1fps is really low! what settings was that on?

....and I believe you. From what I've heard.... and seen, it is a very graphic intense game.....

you must never had more than 10 FPS at those settings. I only play mine at 1072x768 and no AA, and my FPS still aren't that great. I do have the settings pretty high though.

and the fact you have a Pentium 4 3GHz 530.... which isnt that great.... and with an x700...
 
How much do you think my CPU is holding me back? When I'm through college, and actually making money again I'm going to upgrade my CPU to a Pentium D. I know the X700 Pro isn't the greatest card, but it was damn cheap! Plus I didn't want to spend much on a graphics card with DX10 just around the corner.
 
DAMN IT! That DX10 comment again! I bought my card the day before i learned that!
...still an awesome card... I love it!
I'm gonna try Oblivion cause it looks graphically intense. I've tried Dark Messiah Demo, which visually reminds me of Oblivion, and it worked very well.
Do you guys think I'll have a problem running it?
 
I play the game with 0 AA and maxed out visual settings at 1152x8xx or something like that...and i only ever drop down to 10fps if i try getting 2x AA to work lol,my graphic card isn't too worthy of AA for that game.Other than that,i'd say you could probably play it fine.
 
MAN! I bought Oblivion last night, played this morning and I love it!
It is awesome. The graphics and physics are ridiculous and I haven't even gone outside yet.
So far, I've played the interior sequences smoothly. I hope it keeps up once I move to exteriors though.
I'm playing with the default HIGH settings + self shadowing and a couple of other minor things including Full Hardware sound support.
...sniff, sniff... I always wanted to be an Elf... sniff.

Sweet, im glad it works. It gets pretty laggy once you go outside or in the planes of oblivion.

I have set the AA 6x and AF to 16x with HDR @ 1280x1024 including vsync when I went Outside I never lagged at all.:P Im having fun playing that game right now. I just need to know if this pc can play dx 10 games:rolleyes:
 
yes its a great game, its definitely worth the time... im like level 42 or 43 lol and about to become a vampire...
ive got like 89 pages worth of codes for the thing (rarely used, and not before i beat the game), and ive also got a strategy guide (pdf) if youd like them you can PM me.
if you like a good puzzle or riddle, its definitely the game for you... or even just some medievil gore lol

That doesn't sound right...
How can you activate AA and HDR at the same time when hardware won't allow you to do so?
