AM2 set-up

It loooks like a nice board, and from reading the reviews many other people think so as well.

Yes, that is a good motherboard. I wouldn't really call it budget, though.
 
I havn't really gotten the chance to look at the new AM2 motherboards, but this looks nice... and actually I would have to say that that really isn't a budget motherboard. Very nice indeed. I am suprised that ASUS would put the "silent pipe cooling" on a motherboard under a hundred bucks.

I believe he was asking the forum what we thought of that motherboard. I gave him my opinion, just like you gave yours, so I don't really think that my post was any more "pointless" than yours. You gave him your opinion and I gave him mine. I'm sorry you're having a bad day but lets not start attacking users on the forum just because you don't like the way they stated their opinion.

I'm here to learn more about computer hardware and help when I can, I've made mistakes buying motherboards and looking at that specs that that motherboard has, I can see that it includes many features I wish I had looked for when buying mine (e.g. RAID support). I think it was a nice find for the price... I was considering buying it myself. Ease off.

I was not being angry. And there is nothing wrong with giving your opinion, that is what he wanted. But #1, "dude" is not the correct choice of words here, and "i'm liking it" and "nice find" did not sound like opinions to me. I'm sorry if you think that I am attacking you, because I am not. I just thought that you were randomly saying things, and you misinterpreted my response as personal flaming. So this is just a misunderstanding. Got it? Good. Let's move on.


There are a couple things to note on this motherboard:
1. The wacky heatsink may inhibit some additions that you might want to put on
2. There is no firewire support
3. There is only one PATA connection.
4. Be careful with the RAM voltages

I would have gotten this motherboard, except for reasons 2 and 3, which prompted me to get the Gigabyte motherboard. But if those things are no problem to you, then it is a good choice.
 
bobo, im not sure you know this, but when someone says they like or dislike something, its usually an opinion. his post was just as useless as everyone who doesnt post at all so why not yell at all the other members of the forum. at least now if that guy had bought that motherboard he knows he isnt the only one who likes it and other people agree with him on his choice.

as for the short review of the motherboard good points bobo, i myself like the motherboard and when i build once conroe comes out i plan on either that motherboard or the 150$ SLI asus board.

one thing i would like to know about the mothebroard before i would buy it is how well it would overclock, but maybe bratton wont OC anyway.

Anyway, I chose the board because all I know about boards is that Asus is reliant and it met what I wanted. My actual budget was closing in on $1000, but I've brought it to around $800 with rebates and other options (going for an upgradability budget).
I was skeptical about buying a $75~ MSI board because reviews were horrible. There was also an $83~ ASUS board that I was skeptical about because it didn't have any reviews, and motherboards seem to give people trouble so I wanted a reliable one.
Actually, I was browsing boards without onboard video, so I didn't ever see your board, bobo. I think it's the one that I will have.

lol, I have that board. It's great except for one thing that the specs don't tell you (reviews say it now, but they weren't there yet when I bought it). the highest voltage for ram is 1.95v. I'd bought OCZ which was supposed to run at 2.1, but actually came stock at 1.9 which they said it would. one stick was DOA so I set up my system on 512ram, but...if the other would have worked, and I'd had had it to the proper voltage, it couldn't have been set high enough.
so I got Corsair now.

it wasn't a big deal, other than that it's been good
