the mobo i have is an ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE Socket AM2 nvidia 570SLI 7.1 channel audio ATX Motherboard
i need a new processor for this board will it take an am3 and if so which ones please.

You may have to update your motherboard BIOS in order for that processor to work with your system.

Edit: The Phenom II 945 is a great processor. It is what I am using presently in my system.
