Am2 +

When the new quads come out from AMD will they be compatable with the AM2 socket or will you have to buy a new board as well. The reason I 'm asking is that I am going to build a new system and was currently looking at the AM2 socket . I know alot of people here are Core 2 Duo fans , so don't flame me for wanting to stay with Amd. I'm currently using the 939 socket with a 4400+ but really think that the 5600+ and DDR2 memory will help alot. Any thoughts?

Yes it will work, but on a AM2 board you will lose Hypertransport 3.0 and wont be able to control the Mhz and voltage on each core like you will be able to on a AM2+ board

Are there AM2 + boards out now or do I have to wait on those? I perfer the Asus brand if at all possible. Thanks for the quick reply and info.

No there not out yet, later this year when the Agena and Kuma cores are released. Yea I like Asus, Gigabyte and DFI boards for AMD.
