so im planning on buying a new Mobo and CPU. the mobo is a AM3 sock, which i asked if it was good at the Motherboard section as it is a cheap mobo.

ive been looking to get a good rig for allround Gaming and Game development as my laptop just damn right sucks, due to the GPU...

so my Q is, would the Phenom2 X4 960T be a good CPU or not?

as it is a Quad core @ 3ghz and has a Cache of 6MB

its a good cpu, one of the better in terms of price to performance, especially considering you may be able to unlock an extra core or 2, and they also overclock well.

hmmm ill keep that in mind. because here in holland this CPU only costs €110 so about $147 with the exchange rate now.

they are really good chips, if i could afford an upgrade now it would be that or a 1090t, but for overclocking its a champ and the possibility of a hex core for relatively cheap marks the 960t as a good'n

yeah, i hope i have enough cash after christmas to get the mobo atleast. most AM3 mobos are backwards compatible with AM2/AM2+ CPUs but ill have to try.
i always thought Intel was better than AMD but im now starting to change my mind.

well ive always had AMD until the first year of college, so a few months back. thats when i bought my Laptop, no knowing that i3 was dualcore, and being mislead on the name core i3. but ive always used a Sempron, SUPER old and yet gave good performance, could handle most games and i liked that.

My 960T is phenomenal, no pun intended...

But yeah, it's at 3.7Ghz with no voltage increase and at load it gets to 35c at most, but that's with my 212+ and Arctic Silver 5.

hmm cool a friend told me to get the ASRock 870 Extreme 3 Mobo with it as it has UCC. not sure though if i should
