AM3 in AM2/AM2+ Motherboard?

those 6 cores look real tasty... i might have to wait for one. too many new things coming out!!!! more cores, dx11, usb 3.0, sata 6, ssd's... my mind just boggles...

More reason to hold out :o I bought a big pile of hardware a couple of months ago to tide me over but I'm running low lol. Will probably grab a 555 or a 740 in the mean time
Thuban and a 890x are definitely on my list tho. You can already grab usb and sata 3.0 am3 boards but it's a bit of a waste before they are fully optimised.

i saw i video that showed some real usb 3.0 speeds and they were in the hundreds (if i remember correctly). sata 6 i think is a bit useless now. doesn't it have a way bigger bandwidth than what can be used now?

Or save until the end of april and blow it on a 6 core thuban cpu :) and or a 890x chipset board.

I did not think AMD was going to release the x6 till 2011..?? Do you by chance have a link to this.. ? I had heard it both ways not sure what to believe.

Well the new chipsets will be out at the very least...

Anyone know for sure if the new 6 and 8 core stuff will be on AM3 or AM3+? I know Anandtech said AM3 but they're the only place I've found that confirms it, and they didn't list a required chipset or anything.

Gigabytes latest range supports both sata and usb 3.0  I think they are also the fastest clock for clock am3 motherboards aswell.

The prices aint half bad either.

Sorry I didn't read the post properly. You can expect a 6 core thuban out this year ( phenom II basically ) but bulldozer wont be till next year. That's a completely new architecture.
