Am3 vs 939 3500+

I am going to get a AMD 3500+, now wheather i get the AM2 version or the socekt 939 version is the question. I was leaning towards 939 becuase I already have 2GB of DDR ram, but i can always sell it and get DDR2.

Are there any benchmarks comparing these two processers? Or just 939 and AM2 in gernal? I would like to see a few benchmarks with them comparing then running differnet programs.
 
Thanks, I think i'm going to go with the 939,l even though for only 4$ more i could get a free hitman game with it :) I don't think i want to spend the extra money on decent DDR2 ram after looking at the prices, even after i sell my current DDR ram i would still have to pay a bit.


Now to see if I amazing win my bid on a ECS SLI Extreame motherboard on ebay or now. (I bid on two, kind of low bids but only 4 hours left, with my luck i'll win both....)

Until someone more knowledgeable than me comes here, I will admit to answer your question.

As you have noticed there is a slight voltage difference. Besides this, they are two different revisions. Not knowing the OPN numbers, there could be a difference in something like operating temperature. The slightly more expensive one is also probably better for doing things like overclocking.
 
I'd go with the AM2 unless you're on a really tight budget or you already bought the 939.
Simply because it's the "thing of the future". Everything new will be made for AM2 generally speaking.

I would say one was a dual core and one core was defective and they disabled it and relabled it as a single core 64
 
i'd go with the AM2 because they perform the same, AM2 is upgradable, and it supports ddr2. theres also the cpu voltage advantage. generally the lower the stock volts the more overclockable they are... depending on the NM count.
this isn't always true, but generally the lower the voltage the longer the chip will last.
 
i already said im going with 939, the DDR2 is more then what i want to spend right now, plus i found a nice cheap mobo that is fairly decent and SLI. Thank you though.
