amd 64 3000 or amd 64 2800?

no problem. I did not mean to be rude either but I did not want bigshow to go out and buy DDR2 ram to find it wont fit.

don't worry about that,, i didn't take it bad... i just thought i wad on to something with that..

i am going to go ahead spec out a comp for $650 anyways tho...
would this be in american or canadian funds???

so If I gave you $650 dollars to build the best system you could what would you go with?

does that money include monitor and speakers and software needed or just the computer it self?

yeah

money does not include monitor because I have already gotten one.....basically 650 for mobo, cpu, ram , video card, harddrive(s)....that is it and it is in american money

on the memory you picked out why does it say cL3? is that class 3 and what does that mean ?

refers to the cas level. The CAS level refers to your memory’s latency, the time it takes for your memory to respond when given instructions. Lower numbers are better; CL2 is faster memory than CL2.5, which is in turn faster than memory rated at CL3.

If I am putting this in and don't plan on overclocking will I have to mess with the voltage at all?
No

I had seen some reviews where they said it was running sluggish until they altered voltages
And which reviews might this be?

In all reality what advantage is there in going with the 939 pin as opposed to the 754?
1. Didnt you already ask this?
2. Faster HTT/HTL, dual channel

do you want DDR or DDR2???
Inconsequential, AMD doesnt have a DDR2 solution yet

939's tend to run cooler as well which makes them prime targets for oc'ing
You mean Socket754s tend to run cooler .... (of course I am aware that comparing a D-Rev Socket939 to a E-Rev socket939 illustrates a significant drop in temps)

Is there a whole lot of difference when it comes to price on ddr 2 and also if I am running ddr 2 will that make the computer move that much faster?
Wont matter. DDR2 is not supported by AMD as of yet

so in all reality if I do decide to jump to the 939 pin it would be wise to upgrade memory also correct?
No

if u could finish that off with a WD Raptor SATA drive, at 10k or 15k RPM, than you would be set
I might consider buying you a drink if you manage to find me a 15K Raptor SATA drive

yes, upgrading to dual channel DDR (DDR2), would be a really nice upgrade to your pc...
But given the low-latnecies of the on-die memory controller, its not an earthshattering improvement

so If I gave you $650 dollars to build the best system you could what would you go with?
Out the door...really fast. To answer the question, I'd buy my system minus 2 HDDs and upping the mobo to a NF3-U

then how come every retailer i've been to classes them as the same thing, and how come my friends comp is running DDR2 on his mobo??
Because the retailers are friggen idiots and your friend is bullshitting you if he's got DDR2 running in an AMD system (sorry to sound harsh :P)

i have seen one on the WD site for purchase but it is really expensive...lol

isn't that that the truth, i haven't figured out why i even listen to them... my friend showed me the bill, so i guess it wasn't just the salesman who was classifying it as such.. :)

thanks

I am just trying to figure out if I went the right way or not with my system......I really wish dfi would come out with a better motherboard than the one that I have got.........dfi lanparty ut nf3 250.

They make SCSI harddrives at 15k
Yes but those are Seagates ... not WDs.

I really wish dfi would come out with a better motherboard than the one that I have got.........dfi lanparty ut nf3 250.
Why? It doesnt get much better than that

Yes and neither Fujitsu nor Seagate are WDs ;) ... in anycase, we're getting off topic here :)
