Ive just been played cs-soure for about 2 hours and i checked my CPU and MB temp. It reads:
CPU TEMP: 42 Degrees
MB TEMP: 32 Degress
Are these normal temp's after playing games on high settings?
 
My P4 runs a lot hotter than that after running games like UT2K4. In fact, right now it's running at 44 CPU and 30 System. I'd say unless you notice it spiking into dangerous levels, don't worry about it.
 
its best to have the air comming in the front, and exiting the back, and a side fan blowing on the motherboard is probley good too, you want to mantain positive pressure in the case by having more input fans than output fans, then you can have filters on the intake fans and very little dust will get in, with negitive pressure, dusty air gets sucked in though all the small cracks in the case,
in my computer i have a 120mm fan in the front, 120mm fan in the back, and a 90mm fan in the side, i have the front air intake filtered, and the side will be when i find a good filter.
also, most cpu coolers blow downwards, so if that side case fan is blowing out, it could be making both fans work harder and cool less, i think the best way is to have the side fan blowing in, so it blows air into the cpu fan, but this only works if both are going the same direction.....
 
k, right now i have no fan in the front, only side case fan, cpu fan, and two fans in the back on is blowing in and on is blowing out.
On average use im at about CPU Temp: 32 & MB Temp:29

not in my experience, everyone ive bought has had it default blowing the hot air OFF the heatsink. and ive always been taught to have equal pressure inside a case, so same amount of intake as exhaust

Experience aside it doesnt change the fact that most cpu fans do in fact blow downwards. Even some setups like them Alphas which suggest upwards, tend to perform better downwards :) But we are deviating...
