AMD 64 question?

Faster? No. Better? Perhaps.
Generally speaking, if you want to do heavy gaming, go with the AMD processor however if you're looking to do "work" then the Intel one is a better choice :)

I was just thinking about buildling a regular use PC for internet, downloading movies and mp3 thats all.. which processor would you prefer that kind of use?

Since you aren't using the computer for anything really demanding go with the cheaper one

That would be amd 64 3000+

ok one more quick question: What if i wanna use the computer for adobe and video editing, which processor would you guys prefer AMD 64 3400+ or pentium 4 3.2GHZ Hyper threading?

Dont forget to factor the cost of the motherboard.

The intel setup

Intel is leading the processor world i guess.. i thought it was AMD leading the processor world but what Preator said for gaming go with the AMD. Im guessing thats the only thing AMD is good for... correct me if i am wrong.

Far too broad and conclusive of a statement (i also prefixed my comment with "generally" -- which translates to: "if you're not interested in debating technical aspects and just want the bottom line for a purchase decision")

What's there to be confused over? This is my general purpose box ... as opposed to say my video editing box or my statistical/engineering analysis box or my movie box....
