AMD 64 vs Intel HT

I have a friend who wants to buy an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.0Ghz. He says that it would be better then an Intel Pentium4 with HT @ 3.2Ghz. I know that an AMD at 2.0ghz is better then an intel at 2.0Ghz, but would the amd really be that much better?

Depends on what the computer will be used for but the AMD could be better.

In general if this computer for gaming the amd will be better in your case. If the computer is more bussiness and mutitasking orinated the p4 will proberly be better.

SO it depends on what you doing.

Not really a fair comparison since there was an extensive time gap in between

He uses his computer mainly for gaming and Auto CAD.

But if the AMD is better for gaming, then why do PC Game boxes say "AMD 1.2Ghz or Intel 1.2Ghz or better" if the 3200+(2.0Ghz) is about the same of better then the P4 3.2Ghz?

What about Intels 64 bit 3.75 GHz EE proc? Would that be better for gaming now then lets say the FX-55? Lets say both are on a 64 bit OS.
