AMD 64 X2 support with DDR2 1066

Does the AMD 64 X2 support the DDR2 1066 that is on the new mobos that came out with the Phenom? I want to make sure because if it does why didn't AMD come out with DDR 1066 before the phenom?

yes it supports 1066...my old m2n-sli-deluxe did with bios update...and my currrent

No, the memory controller is on the processor so if you have a new AMD 700 series chipset with DDR2 1066 support and running a Athlon 64 your still stuck with DDR2 800. The Phenoms memory controller has support for DDR2 1066
