AMD 64BIT CPU....DUAL 32BIT PIPELINE.
Hello all,
Im a part time computer technician and have a couple of problems/questions
I understand basicly how the 64bit CPU's work compared to a 32bit CPU. But seen as the general user/gamer does not require such wide pipelines is it possible to run a linux or similar core and then run 2x seperate Windows XP 32bit version O/S's. So i could in other words ALT-TAB between two seperate 32bit O/S's. therefore sorta doubling the amount of 32bit data processing that can be done at once.
For a better example of what im getting at...
I want to process a home video stream (xvid to mpg conversion) in one 32bit O/S (as the software will only run on 32bit cpu (i know 64bit are backwards compat)) at the full CPU speed. say (AMD XP) 3200mhz and in the other O/S (shell) play games without jerky movements. It is possible to do that to the 64bit CPU's and not have data sync probs or processing errors?
Thanks very much
Brad
