AMD 8350, i7 or i5?

I'm just a PC user that doesn't need a lot of PC power. I'm retired from the computer field as a MIS manager but that was 10 years ago. I play RAGE on my AMD 955 and 5750 Video card with the cheapest 28 inch monitor and it is awesome but I am moving and need to build another computer because where I'm going they don't have a Fry's Electronics and I don't want to build one by ordering from the Internet so everyone is saying "Get an i5" That's fine but which one? Just for principle I would want one that out performs the AMD 8350, an 8350 is fine and so is an i7 but do I need an i7?

Get a 3570K if you want an i5, for sure.

But to be honest, you may not even need an i5 or an FX-8350 or an i7 at all. An i3 for an FX-4300 may be fine for you.

While it's not great the 955 should still perform fine in most games. Your video card is holding you back more than anything else.

I'd also direct you to a 3570K though if you were to get a new CPU (and motherboard of course).

I would get the i5 3570K or even i3 like spirit said. Though, I would wait for Haswell, as wlofeking said. If you are only gaming, don't get the i7 or 8520.

If you want to go a bit cheaper, you can also get the UD3H.

If the budget allows for either board I would get the UD5H vs the UD3H. Better overclocking board with better cooling around the CPU socket.

The UD5H is a great board, as spirit said, and so is the ud3h as salvage this said.
