amd and intel

ah, cool. sorry

*edit*
ok, just looked up that thread and all it is is which one you would choose. i want to know if there is a differance so i can find out which one would be better for me.

Well, it depends on what you are going to be using it for. Generally speaking, Intels overclock really well. AMDs don't generally overclock as well, but they are very stable. Intels might have a lower stock clock speed, but will OC like crazy. AMDs generally have a higher stock speed, but, like I said, don't overclock as high.

well, its going to be my first real computer build. i have upgraded computers and everything, but now i want to go for it all. i want something that i can upgrade easily and that i can kinda mess around with. i would be looking into overclocking as well.

I would go with an Intel dual core, only because most programs don't utilize quad core yet. I don't really know as much about CPUs as most other people on here, so I couldn't recommend a model, but someone else will read this and tell you a model, or correct me if I'm wrong about something. But yeah, dual core Intel is probably the way to go.

And probably a P35 chipset. There isn't enough of a difference in my opinion between P35 and P45 to warrant the additional cost. But P35 and P45s are really good for overclocking. If you are looking to do SLI I'm pretty sure that neither of those chipsets support it, so you will have to use an Nvidia chipset.

This what your talking about? Looks nice. seems to have good reviews. gotta love the price too. only thing is people seem to be saying it doesnt have the best cooling and from what i hear overclocking puts pretty high demands on cooling. would a water cooling kit be a good investment?

That just depends on how high you are going to be overclocking. I have my CPU from 2.4 to 3.02 and i just have a 120mm Ruby Orb fan on it, and it works just fine. But you may need to. Yeah, that board is one example. There are literally hundreds of P35 and P45 boards though, so make sure you shop around first.

I am not aware of a AMD video card. Unless you are mixing that up with ATI...

But it still makes sense. ATi is owned by AMD.

I got that but why did he even say this:

That is what I am lost on

Just kidding...

What I mean is you need to ask question clearly.
Intel and AMD is a brand. You need to specify what product you are comparing.

Intel not only produce CPU, they have OEM motherboard.
AMD not only have CPU, they own ATi, and thus they have GPU.
