Im using an msi k8n diamond sli socket 939 board. Keeping in mind its going to be a hardcore gaming machine, and the budget isnt too much of a worry, which way should i go?

Is there a lot of difference between the chips for gaming because there is quite a large difference between the prices.

Well, theres not much of a difference between the AMD 64 4000+ and the AMD X2 3800+, but for right now the X2 doesnt really do a whole lot, but newer games (UT2007 for example) will support dual core and then they will out perform pretty much any single core cpu.

Well if money wasnt an issue then the smartest thing to do would be to build a machine tailored from the ground up for whatever task you needed to do. BUt since money is an issue, the X2 would give you a better overall computing experience so id recomend that
