Good morning everyone.
I built my first system a few months ago for my kids. After having it a couple of months, it started shutting down on its own. I called in a local company to look it over. It turned out to be that it was simply overheating. He added some thermal paste between the CPU and supplied heatsink and that seems to have taken care of the problem. (It was an ASUS A8N-SLI and a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ CPU.) I didn't add any extra paste because it the directions didn't call for any.
I'm getting ready to build another system for myself, so I have a question. I'm going to use an ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe with an AMD ATHLON 64 X2 6400+. Would it be advisable to add extra thermalpaste or even go so far as to add an other heatsink/cooler? This is just going to be my second build, so I'm not real sure of these things. Would appreciate any input. Thanks. Gary
