I have just finished building my new pc system and installed all drivers followed by CPU-Z. My processor AMD Athlon 7750 Black Edition is running at a core speed of 1350.0Mhz according to CPU-Z is this correct?

you need to turn off cool and quite in the bios. it downclocks it when your not using it to cool it down and save power :D

Cool and Quiet

Thanks I just realised thats the case now, when using Photoshop to do tasks the processor only ever goes up to 51% being used while its doing tasks. 2 questions when does the processor switch to full speed and second does photoshop not use both cores??

What version of photoshop are you running? It goes to full speed once you put load onto the cpu.

When your Athlon 7750 needs more processing power it will kick up to full clock speed. I like the feature that down clocks a processor because it saves power when your processor doesn't need to run at full clock speed.

Photoshop

Year quite annoying because photoshop is one of the reasons I built this base unit and people on google saying photoshop is designed for dual core! The computer has stopped working now aswell, I plugged in the monitor and a there was a small spark on the monitor connection now the thing wont boot at all and its only a few hours old so its going back tomorrow swap it for a new motherboard.
