im considering building a new pc, because my one is not good any more. im considering the amd athlon x2 3800, what you guys think of the 3800, is it a good choice

What do you intend to do with the system?

Budget?

Also look into Intel which often can be cheaper.

the dual core 3800 will do multi-tasking very well also.

i was considering a 3200+ Venice...but the X2 3800+ is tempoting. huige price difference...but maybe i can squeeze it.

i know but amd are better than intel

In what way are they better as an 'all rounder'?

The fact that you've got an old XP 2200+ doesn't mean AMD will be better at everything for ever you know.

Consider the price, but then again you have proven yourself as a fanboy in plenty of posts earlier so I'll just shut up..

ill let you know... i just got an x2 3800 off ebay (sealed retail for $350 :))
should have the mobo within the month, so ill let ya know what i think. but you can count on it being something like "this thing rocks, i love it"

go amd

i think that the amd 3800 is an awesome cpu. but if you just want an all rounder id go for a 3000-3400. even a pentium 4 3-3.2ghz would suit what price are you wanting to spend on the computer?
:)
