Alright, I'm faced with somewhat of an odd issue with an AMD Athlon X2 5600 cpu.
The pens were pent on this cpu, and finally were straightened out so it fits into the socket. I put it in the socket, and installed the heatsink. When I started up the computer, it would beep..not boot up...obvious CPU issue.
So I had been trying to figure out what the problem was, and instead of reseating the heatsink and clamping it down every time I tested it, I decided to just set the heatsink on the CPU without locking the heatsink down. This time, it worked great and loaded up Windows Vista fine.
BUT when I clamp down the heatsink, the motherboard never fails to give me the CPU beep error and doesn't boot...so I'm not sure what I should do to get past this? Has anyone else experienced something like this?
