I have an amd athlon 1600+ and recently upgraded to a 2600+ but when i started the computer the speed of the processor read 1533mhz i think it should say 2600+ but i dont know how change it. The last processor read 1600+ I have a K7S5A motherboard and 256mb of ram hopefully some one can send me in the right direction

I've recently upgraded from a 2600+ to a 4600+. The 2600 should run @ around 1900mhz. 2600+ is just part of the product name. Someone with a better knowledge than me should probably give you help on attempting to increase the speed. Can you find out what speed your motherboard can support? Do you know how to use BIOS to change the multipliers etc?

In the bios i've changed a figure from 100/100 to 133/133 thats all not even sure if that is the multiplier. I think this board should handle a 2600+ with a bios upgrade but i havent yet done that and are unsure how to

Do you know which 2600+ you've got?
The setting you changed is the CPU external frequency.
Try changing the external frequency to 166mhz. You have it at 133 at the mo.
Change the CPU frequency multiplier to 11.5.
