AMD CPU's?

Is the X2 faster than the FX? Which one is faster? I am probably not the person to be asking this question(my username) but, I know nothing of AMD and would like to tear up some AMD stuff along with Intel's.

The fx's multiplier is unlocked, meaning lazier overclocks..

The FX series are AMDs top end enthusiast chips. One of the major features is the unlocked multiplier, which allows for superior overclocks. The FX-7x series are multi-CPU platforms, AMDs current answer to Intel's Quad Core chips.

The X2s are the mainstream line. Obviously you'd need to compare specific models for a meaningful performance/value comparison.

It's not a simple answer, since some FX's are faster then the X2's, and vice versa.

For example, and X2 4800+ is faster then an FX-53.

As others have said, the FX series has unlocked mulitpliers, which makes them great gaming/enthusiest CPU's.
