I'm not sure if any of you have heard this or not, but AMD has stopped producing the X2 series with 1MB of L2 cache, so thats the reason why you don't see the X2 4800+'s, or the other models with L2 cache. The reason is because the extra L2 cache takes up more space, thereby decreasing the amount of CPU's produced per wafer. They also stopped production because consumers were getting really confused with the different variations.
So now the only models that still have 1MB of L2 cache are some of the Opteron's, as well as the FX series.
Do any of you have opinions on this? I think it will actually increase Opteron and FX sales, since now theres even more of a significant difference between the X2 and the FX series.
