Maybe maybe not. If the CPU physically fits into the motherboard than you should be fine ... depends on the mobo thoughMy friend, (the one with the Aptiva) has an AMD Duron 600MHz. Could I upgrade to the1.8GHz Duron?
Depends on the context of 'OEM'... if you mean "buying an OEM (or not) processor" OEM = box and manuals and stuff. If you mean "I bought a computer with X processor from an OEM" then it means you have a processor ... nothign fancy thereOn a proc, what is the diff between OEM and not OEM?
No software comes with anything. All I was asking is if there were any software things that usually came with a cpu, that wouldnt come with an OEM
I think some were Slot A as wellArent all Durons socket A? If so, wouldnt it fit no matter what the mobo is?
Naturally they would not.Do IBM mobo support OCing

lmao so true.it reduces the techsupport calls from users who cranked the clock speed without understanding any of what they were doing and keep crashing their system
one is a slot and one is a socket. If you can't remember, socket A:whats the difference?
Think about it.Why not?
I was giving a generic example but yeah IBM is an oem.I didnt know that IBM was OEM.
No although generically "OEM" refers to "mainstream OEM"Are there any name brands that are not oem?
