AMD Employee Steels Secrets from Intel

Federal prosecutors in Massachusetts have charged 33-year-old Biswamohan Pani with stealing more than $1 billion in trade secrets from chipmaker Intel. And while we imagine the circumstances could be more convoluted, the reality is complicated enough.

According to the indictment, earlier this year Pani was working for Intel and gave notice that he planned to leave his job, eating through accumulated vacation time while seeking a job at a hedge fund. Instead, Pani had taken a job at rival chipmaker AMD and used his vacation time on-site at Intel downloading documents, including (according to the Boston Business Journal) items Intel classified as "confidential" or "top secret."

Prosecutors say that AMD had no knowledge of the theft and did not benefit from Pani's actions. According to reports, Pani claims to have taken the information to give to his wife, who was also an Intel employee.

Still I think AMD is going to surprise us in 09...I think Intel's laid back war is gonna get bloody in 09.
 
AMD will make a comeback. If someone has a far lead, it's common to rest on their laurels and let the competitor catch up.

And for you Intel fanboys who will say, "AMD sucks! They're going to go out of business lawlz!"...I ask you, what benefit would there be to AMD going out of business? Intel will have no competitors and will have a monopoly and jack prices on everyone. So for everyone's sake, let's hope AMD rebounds in 2009.
 
LOL they need to do something intel has been tearing them up lately.I dont know whhat monopoly laws are concerning this but if intel was the only producer of cpu's we would get ripped off
 
From the looks of it, Deneb isn't going to be able to compete with i7 either. For now, AMD can do well by pricing competitively...stay afloat, and wait for a breakthrough. =/
