What is the AMD equivalent of an Intel Pentium 4 2.6GHz?
Or more specifically, which is faster, P4 @ 2.6GHz or AMD Athlon 2000 @ 1.7GHz?

Pretty simple question, i just dont know the answer :(

I'd guess the P4, since it most likely has HTT.

The family computer's P4 runs at about 3.6 GHZ while my AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800 (2.0 GHz OC'd to 2.2 GHz) is slower.

Rough equals in processors were the Athlon 64 3200+ and the Pentium 4 3.0Ghz

Multiply those era AMD processors by 1.6 and you should be fairly close to their Pentium 4 equivalent.

Disclaimer for the picky: Yes I realize the AMD cpu mentioned above was considered better for gaming while the P4 better for multitasking. They are still very close in overall processor speed.

Thats sad, my old 3600+ X2 was a beast. Heck my old Barton 2500+ would walk on P4's of the same clock.

A P4 at 2.6 is alittle faster than a old socket A Athlon at 1.7ghz. The closest would be something like a Athlon XP 2600
