Will AMD ever catch up with Intel performance wise again?

Because i hear AMD couldnt make a quad core processor, their new technology is called fusion, its just 2 sockets on 1 mobo, so u have to buy 2 processors & Intel still out-performs it?

If so looks like im gonna go Intel:D For my new comp.

Their current highest is called 4x4, which uses two CPU's on one motherboard. And even the current Intel quad-cores outperform it.

Right now Intel is in the lead, but if you look at the past, both companies have had leads for a while, especially when it was the A64 vs P4. AMD will bounce back, its just a matter of when.

Yeah i expect AMD to bounce back sometime.

What is the point in having Quad core processors though if most games & such doesnt even support dual core yet?

To give customers a reason to upgrade, and to give game producers a reason to support quad-cores :)

Half-Life 2: Episode Two is one of the games that will support quad-cores, as well as many other new releases.

I hear of a AM3 socket AMD are working on with 65nm core and onboard DDR3 memory controller.
Wonder what that will be like.

Info from Micro Mart Mag.

according to maximumpc mag i got yesterday (feb '07), amd is closing the gap between 65nm to 45nm when compared to the time it will take intel to do the same. intel will still do it first, but i still think it's an impressive feat for amd having only 2 plants that can actually manufacture the cores compared to how many intel has.

AMD will catch up, then Intel will catch up with the Core 3, then AMD will have AM4 and 15nm, so on and so forth.

Is AMD gonna release a new line of processor for AM2 or are they just going to make a new socket for the next AMD processor?

Three options for AMD

1. They will catch up with intel
2. They wont catch up with intel
3. They will go a different route to intel in the way of cores.

they will learn from these last mistakes, and the next procs to come out will be years ahead of their time. i have faith in them :)
