AMD FM2+ APU equal to Intel i5 Quad Core?

is there any AMD processor that will fit an FM2+ that is equal to an Intel I5 quad core? I ask because I need a processor of this power to run a program I have. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-F2A78M-D3H Revision 4.0 I need to run TrueTheater in my PowerDVD player when viewing blu rays. Just wanted to see if anyone knows if it's possible to upgrade my APU enough to run this function in PowerDVD 15? Thanks if anyone can advise me on this. PowerDVD are no help on this really.

As far as performance goes, no there is no fm2+ apu that comes anywhere near close to the performance of an I5. What processor do you have now?

Depends what you're doing, but it loses in basically all cpu oriented tests.

The AMD apu is significantly cheaper and has faster integrated graphics. In all other cases the i5 will offer higher performance.

That being said a quad core apu shouldn't have problems running the application you outlined.

I currently have the AMD A4 6300, and TrueTheater will run with DVD's, but not with Blu Rays, it chokes up running with Blu Rays.

Thanks for the advice, I will just try to get the highest speed quad core APU for my motherboard.

This would be the highest apu for that board.

Just make sure you are running bios revision F5e before switching out processors.
Thanks John, I thought that was the best processor, but wasn't sure, I read AMD A10 7890K is coming out by the end of March 2016, so I was hoping to wait for it, it is slightly faster than the one you linked to. As far as I know it is basically the same with a higher speed. I just was not sure it was the best processor.

AMD's current 'performance chip', the FX-8350, isn't even as fast as an i5 so there's no way that an APU is. The i5 is a performance-orientated quad-core. The APUs are a low-cost solution. There's no comparison.
