AMD & INTEL?

Hard Drives and RAM don't need to be compatible with the processor. RAM and hard drives only need to be compatible with the motherboard.

which types of hard drives
cpu choice does not really pose any limitation here, this is more determined by your motherboard
you will need ddr ram for you 4200+ (i think we covered this http://www.computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=18100). AMD do not support ddr2, least not until M2 (if ever)

yes they do, AMD will not support ddr2. Covered above

there is a minimum of ram or hd space...

With a geforce 7800, 2x 512 modules, and a 650w (as yet nameless psu)......We know...... after 35 threads we all know!!

256MB ram for windows xp 32-bit , and I think the 64-bit edition reqiures 512MB not sure, and I think it's around 6gigs of harddrive space

well the ddr2 wouldn't be compatible with a AMD board..would it?
sigh.........
Thats because the cpu doesnt support it, thus the board wont fit it not the other way around.

oh yes of course it does, but then thats not the topic of this conversation.

The minimum spec of xp pro is:
*PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
*128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)
*1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space

well there ya go apj101
think you've lost the plot a bit here adam :D
