AMD Live

AMD Live is a list of requirements AMD set out for a PC. Stuff like it should have at least 1GB DDR2 RAM, Windows XP Media Center Edition, DVD+/-RW, and other such things... It's really nothing special, just basically what AMD considers to be the minimum requirements for using a PC as a media center :P

There is also some special software it uses, but probably nothing you couldn't find elsewhere as freeware of some sort...

AMD Live is both audio and video presentations seen at http://amdlive.amd.com/ The description for this seen at Wikipedia goes as follows.
AMD LIVE! was originally the name of Advanced Micro Devices' initiative back in the year 2005 aimed at gathering the support of professional musicians and other media producers behind its hardware products. The primary focus of this initiative was the Opteron server- and workstation-class central processing units (CPUs).
AMD subsequently extended AMD LIVE! into a platform marketing initiative focusing the consumer electronics segment and the focus was shifted to Athlon 64 X2 and Athlon 64 FX desktop-class CPUs.
AMD LIVE! for consumer electronics segment was announced on January 4, 2006 officially through press release. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Live!

ok, so is that anything like intel viiv cause i really dont kno what that is either, all i kno is its for media stuff. i begun to explore it but got side tracked i guess.

So when are they gonna shut wikipedia down for being the most un-reliable source on the net? lol. Im sorry, but i hate wikipedia, you cant believe anything on there.

Im not saying that whats posted isnt true, im just saying is not a reliable source at all.

Whatever the opinion on Wikipedia I usually look for multiple sources for confirmation on things like the first link direct to AMDLIVE there. When in doubt AMD has their own description you can choose to go by as well.

"AMD LIVE! Supported by Top Digital Content Creators
In conjunction with today’s announcement, AMD is launching a new AMD LIVE! website in collaboration with Microsoft. Available at www.amd.com/amdlive, the site features top artists and producers who have experienced creative breakthroughs using AMD64 technology and Windows XP Professional software. Digital content creators can benefit from what top innovators are saying about solutions based on AMD64 technology and Microsoft software.

“I’ve always felt like I’ve been wagging the tail of the big technology dog, to see what I could get it to do,” said Robert Rodriguez, director of Sin City. “Since I started using AMD64 technology, the technology is now wagging me, to see what I can do with it. AMD LIVE! fulfills the final dream by delivering the goods as originally imagined by the artist.” " http://www.amd.com/us-en/Corporate/VirtualPressRoom/0,,51_104_543~103717,00.html

Yeah, I saw that in Office Depot tonight. I was wondering the same thing, I thought it was an update program or something with a rebate.

I doubt you will see too many actual live broadcasts while not ruling it out completely. But after this amount of time everything looked at seems to be all prerecorded video segmants by the various artists and celebrities. It works more like a big ad for AMD more then anything else. "I used this AMD64 to create blah... blah... blah...".
