Im looking for a very OCable AM2 CPU, I dont want it to go over $100. I looked around and found a lot to choose from though I have no clue which is best. All I know to look for is 65nm :). I appreciate any help.

I took the 6000+ into consideration but its barely faster and runns hotter. Is the 5600+ the best choice in my case?

This is replacing a 4600+ 2.4ghz CPU, is it even worth spending money on the upgrade? Should I just upgrade from a 9600gt instead?

I've played around a lot with my FX-62 (Windsor core, 2.8GHz stock), and have gotten it to pass Prime95 and Orthos stress tests at 3.4GHz. That's with a Zalman 9700 screaming its heart out, and overvolting (naturally). Even so, temps were well above what I like.

If you really, really, really have your heart set on an AMD, look around for an FX-60. Slightly lower clock speed, but virtually identical to the 62. Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but I believe that the more expensive 62s roll off the same line as the 60s, but are cherry-picked.

To tell you the truth, AMD CPUs aren't really all that great for overclocking. They tend to run a little hotter, and the HT tends to muck up the works. One thing they do have going for them is that the FX series, with unlocked multipliers, is pretty cheap. But even regular Intels are capable of much better overclocks.

In short, AMDs aren't good for OCing ing general, but the FX series is better than the regular ones.

If you really want one to overclock. just get a BE, its unlocked. But they are releasing a Athlon 6500BE Kuma in a few weeks based on the Agena core.

Both of those processor have been discontinued. The FX 60 was a Toledo core with a DDR memory controller 939 socket and the FX 62 was a Windsor core with a DDR2 memory controller AM2 socket. Could not be used on each others sockets.
