amd opteron or x2

original CABNE opty's overclock alot better than X2's I would go with the opty simply because it's designed for servers therefore more stable and built tougher.

yeah probably right.....but you cant go past an AMD dual core

dude the opteron 165's get like 2.8ghz per core on stock air, dual prime stable, and it has better binded/sibling silicon, so you dont have to be THAT sensitive with temps, but i do suggest not being a temperature prostitute.

oh man, opteron 175 is like the best cpu you can get for the price,
ONLY IF YOU ARE GOING TO OVERCLOCK

if yo don't want to oc your cpu, might as well get x2... but
once you start overclocking, its really fun...

yea, then again the 4400+ has more L1 cache... 128+128kb rather than 64+64kb. thats actually a big increase for an L1 cache... i know P4's only have a 12+16kb cache, which is probably part of the reason AMD's core's are better (even though the frequency isn't as high)
also, who says you can't o/c an X2?? i know i got mine 400mhz without a single vcore increase just because my power supply won't let me, i plan on replacing it asap.
