Hey guys i was gonna build a new system soon but i'm not sure which processor is better i myself right now have a Intel Pentium D @ 2.66 Ghz my friend who has an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ got double the benchmarks as me and yet everyone says intels PD is better then amd's x2s

The Choices :

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor - 2.40GHz, 8MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB, Kentsfield, Quad-Core, Retail, Socket 775, BX80562Q6600, Processor with Fan

or

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Processor - 3.0GHz, 2MB Cache, 1000MHz (2000 MT/s), Windsor, Dual-Core, Retail, Socket AM2, ADX6000CZBOX, Processor with Fan

EDIT ; the processor will be used mainly for gaming

i think the Q6600 would kill the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+:D

also i dont know how much this realy means but the 6000+ has 2Mb cache where the q6600 has 8mb:eek:

It also depends on your budget. The Quad is about $100 more than the AMD, but I kinda told you what you already knew.

Yeah, the Q6600 it's way way faster than the X2 6000 it also needs less power if you don't take the EE version of the 6000.

what???
NOO
AMD is better for gaming if you wana play
but intel is for working
so if you wana gaming chose AMD if you wana for work chose intel

you've not updated yourself on current processors have you.......

Intel is currently running the show.

The Q6600..... It will whip any AMD CPU out there. AMD is about good for nothing right now, their new Barcelona Server CPU's are supposed to be better than the next generation of Intel's Xeon. They barely make it by the present day Xeons.

AMD single cores were better not the dual cores.

Defiantly the Q6600 thats what I got and it runs very very well. And if you were looking to spend less don't go for the AMD go for an Intel Core Two Duo like the E6600 or something. Its pretty much identical to the quad core except it just has 2 cores and half the cache as it has half the cores.

E6550, E6750, and E6850 are the best of the Core 2 Duo Line
