AMD or Nvidia?

One more question. I know Nvidia has their own recording software (shadowplay). Does AMD have anything like that?
Not to my knowledge I'm afraid. ShadowPlay is actually pretty good, I used it recently, but I would still say you should get the RX 480 instead of the GTX 960 because obviously it's a much newer card and it sounds like it's going to be one hell of a card for the money. Something like FRAPS would work well if you want to record gameplay and there's other stuff out there too.
I guess if you really want ShadowPlay you could see what the GTX 1060 might be like and then see if you want the 1060 or the RX 480. I don't know when the GTX 1060 is coming out though - it could be a few months away. I would say get the GTX 1070 but at about $450 or more it's twice as expensive as the RX 480 is going to be.
Okay, thanks. The only problem I have with fraps is that it can affect frame rate. While with shadow play, it doesn't affect frames at all. But from what im reading online, the rx 480 shouldnt have a problem with recording game play.

Ah I see. AMD isn't really known for their drivers though. So hopefully the new direction would change that.
Drivers have been nothing but good for the past several months since they switched over to Crimson. Sans a few issues at the start. I get driver updates every 2 weeks or so.
AMD "isn't known for their drivers" because people keep saying they aren't and perpetuating that. That may have been true in the past but the past 6 months have been solid and continual improvements are coming out.

As much as you would like to defend AMD's drivers... what if I told you Hillary Clinton hasn't lied about anything for the past 6 months. That doesn't stop her from being "known for lying". 6 months isn't a long time for a company that has been around for awhile now.
I'm glad they're getting their act together for their drivers though.
People have been spouting the "AMD drivers suck" line for years. I've had minimal issues for the 5 years I've had an AMD card and they keep improving. All of my friends have AMD cards (wonder why
) and they don't have any issues either to speak of. I've had more issues out of my laptop video drivers (that I barely use). Maybe they sucked hard in the 2000's but I wouldn't say AMD's drivers are any worse than Nvidia's.*shrug*
That was one of the reasons why I went back to NVIDIA. Though to be fair I only had a few bad drivers in my 2 years of 5870 ownership - mind you they only made about one driver per quarter back then whereas I believe they're making them like every other week now like NVIDIA do.
Anyway, I'm sure AMD will include/improve gameplay recording capability soon since NVIDIA currently has that corner of the market cornered. If AMD already has this ability and it's bad at the moment then it's likely it will improve, I think.
You have a bigger boner for your 770 than I do for AMD it seems like.
Also don't lookup benchmarks of the 770 vs a 280x in new titles if you want to keep your sanity. Nvidia's got the market share right now, no question about that. Answer me this though, when was the last time you saw an AMD ad?
