amd or p4

Dude, quadruple posting? There is no excuse, someone needs to merge all those posts, and it really should be you.

I would also go for an X2 processor. Despite what people tell you, AMD is not ONLY for gaming. People tend to think gaming is AMD's only strong point, and it lacks at everything else, this is not true. The same goes for Intel, its not ONLY good at multi-tasking, they are fine gaming chips as well if you know what to buy. I am more familiar with AMD, I like their pricing and performance, so I would get an X2.

dual processor motherboard, two 940 sockets for opteron interface... and then two dual core opteron chips... unmatched video editing capabilities...
along with... say an NVidia quadro(video editing code name, like geforce for a gaming card) fx1100

that would be THE ULTIMATE video editing machine.
with.. say 8gb of Corsair XMS... that would be absolutely insane.
thats right, the mobo supports 24gb of RAM...

Why do you post links to this various hardware? What amused me was:

Now take some time and read the original topic once again: (assuming you read it in the first place)

all i can say is, from the time i posted this original thread to now, ive learned alot more then i did about amd and p4's. so i just want to thank you guys for your help and i pretty much got it all figured out, atleast for now lol

I didnt bother reading through all of the posts so this prolly a repeat. If you are a major gamer get an amd athlon 64 it is a lot better for gaming, and has 64 bit which is not to usefull yet but the next windows operating system will put it to good use

haha yea i agree with tweaker on this one... 18celsius would be a VERY cold room... 68F is like 20C...
yea... dual core AMD rules. the 4800 dual core outperforms (even in multitasking) the pentium d 3.2ghz with hyperthreading enabled. like really, could AMD get any better? also, the 4800 costs less, and uses less power under a full load than the pentium d ht does while idling. (this was on topic)
