AMD Overclocks to 6.89Ghz!

After an overclock of 5 gigahertz or higher with a Phenom II 955 the processor, the processor is very likely damaged isn't it? Pushing the computer chip to temperatures that low and raising the voltage high enough to reach an overclock that great damages the processor correct?

As long as it didnt fizz out when you were overclocking it, it should be fine. Never meant to be run like that continuous anyway. Run like that all the time, sure it would probably die at a young age.

Who could keep pouring liquid nitrogen and helium on a processor all the time?

Wow, so a short overclock like that wouldn't likely damage a Phenom II 955 permanently if you did everything correctly. That is impressive.

Some crazier dude than me. Kinda like building a Funny Car and could never drive it on the street. Quarter mile wonder, bragging rights. Look what I did.

Really just a bunch of dudes just seeing how far it can be pushed and run stable for a benchmark.

Man whats the point wouldnt it be better to go for 2 xeons 6 cores rather than overclocking using liquid nitrogen thats insane even if they overclock it to 1Terahertz whats the point we still wont be able to use it practically

They're just pissing on Intel's shoes.

Intel hasn't trumped it yet, but I've read they have some chips reserved to try
to beat the AMD record.
