Any opinions for the new AMD Phenom 9850 Quad Core Processor.

I think you just won. A dual core will mostly always be faster, but quads are for multi-tasking.

Intel Core2 Extreme QX9775 processor has a $1,548 price tag at NewEgg? Ouch.

A 9850 is a good processor. Its problem is that it uses alot of watts and clock for clock is alittle slower than the Q6600. But both processors are just alittle over 200 bucks, pretty good deal on both.

ya the heat with that thing would be alot o deal with...but the x2 6000 and 6400 are both 125 watts people deal with them well..i would get one myself but was a little strapped for cash so got a x3 95w...still idles at 35c l

well after weighing up all my options with the cpu's of today i had to get a q6600, amd cant compete!!!

didnt really consider dual cores as im wanting to try and keep futer proff for a little longer!

i hope amd do come back with something better to push the intel prices down and start an all out cpu war-more benaficial to us that there is competition
