amd phenom ii x4 955 vs q8200

Hi

i am currently using a q8200 and i am wondering if it is worth upgrading to a amd phenom ii x4 955 btw this would be for gaming mostly
 
Well if you wanted to go with a Phenom x4 you would have to change your motherboard,Going from a Q8200 to a X4 955 is not worth it imo,Yes it pulls ahead in most benches according to anandtech,But its just not worth it.

Your Q8200 should be able to handle anything you throw at it,what clock speed do you have it at?..whats your graphics card?
 
Since AM3 will outdated soon. IMO, It is not worth the spending for new mobo + CPU.
What video card have you got? Will it be better to upgrade that instead?
 
yea...wait till bulldozer or sandy bridge if you really need a speed fix. the 8200 should hold you over... and yea, GPU might be a better investment right now.
 
LGA 1155 Sandy-bridge is going to be out in January 2011

Also, what video card you have ? You should upgrade that specially if you have an outdated GPU
 
4350 is weak and definatly holding your gaming performance back.
...for now id just upgrade to a better graphics card to hold you over and wait for the new AMD/Intels to come out then upgrade,Thats why im doing :)

It looks OK to me.
However, I do think it would be best for you to invest on Video card now and wait for new technology come out next year.
 
I second waiting...id drop in a GPU first and see how the system performs before going over the perverbial deep end with a complete new build...seeing as AM3 is going to go to AM3+ come bulldozer... im fairly sure you will see a good kick in the pants from a graphics card change and nothing more
