hi guys, I started my computer, and I opened up the task manager, and there was only 3 cores on my CPU. it also tells the same on everest and my sidebar.

I checked the BIOS, and there were nothing changed.

does somebody know what the problem is?

thanks..

Run->MSconfig->Boot Tab->Advanced Options->See if "number of processors" is checked, and if it is make sure its set to 4.

Otherwise, check in your bios to see if a cpu core is disabled. You may have a bad cpu core though as well...

Did you recently upgrade your CPU from a Triple Core. I read earlier on this site - somebody had the same problem you are having - and he fixed it by re-installing Windows - while his new CPU was installed.

I'd check other options first - but that might be your problem.

If you have upgraded from a tricore try uninstalling the CPU from device manager before reformatting, it has worked for me in the past.

thanks guys..
the problem is now solved.
it turned out, that I tried to use all cores for the booting process from the msconfig. after I unticked the numbers of processors in the boot advance option, and restarted, my cpu had 4 cores again.. :)
