AMD Phenom X 6 or i7 750

I have read such mixed reviews with regard to both CPUs. I am going to build my first gaming rig and would love to hear reasons (other then budget) to use one over the other. Is it really true to hp with AMD specifically for gaming and The i7 or i9 series for multitasking? This is what I read on a forum somewhere in a "sticky". I am looking to run WoW and Warhammer in at least 60 FPS at all times. Right now, on my current system I'm only getting 30 on mediocre settings. I would love to run these Games on Ultra settings.

First of all, there's no such thing as an I9. Second, the 750 is an I5 quad core which doesn't have hyper threading. The 750's are pretty much getting phased out in favor of the much better clocking I5 760.

FPS mostly depends on the graphics card as long as you atleast have a dual core now. What is your current setup? What CPU and what card?

Those games you mentioned are not very graphically challenging. You would have zero issues going with a quad core like a Phenom II 955 and a card like a 5770.

I owned a 1055t hex core, overclocked it to 3.8ghz, I was not really that impressed you don't even know the difference between it and a quad core because the extra 2 cores do nothing while gaming. Most games only utilize two cores, some use 4 but very few plus if they do they aren't going to be using 100% of every core of a Phenom II quad.

Whats your budget for this build? Thats really the first thing that needs discussed and we can go from there.
