im getting a new processor and psu and some other stuff for Christmas. I was wondering if anyone noticed, but the best amd dual core, the 6000+ is down to 92$ and still dropping. Even the bottom tri core has dropped about 20$ in the past 1 or 2 months. Why are they dropping prices so much? Is it because intels beating them?

Cuz AMD sucks, Intel is the way to go no matter what ppl say. AMD needs to get their ass together and not wait till next year to make a 45NM CPU, cmon...

yep. intel is ahead, and the less cores the cheaper it will be.

intel has their cheapest quad core (clocked at 2.4ghz) at around $180. that's the one i bought and overclocked.

Yes, the 6000+ was 92$ for a while now. When i bought it, in store, it was 160$ and now it almost half that. Intel is ahead, no doubt about that, but that can't be the only reason for the price drop. Obviously, just to sell, and AMD is kicking ass with the 4870.

prices of current stuff will always decrease as the new stuff will come out eventually at higher prices.

i7's comming out soon this oct

I thought that was next year? O.o AMD isnt coming out with 45nm CPU's till January and thatll be the lesser versions. /sigh, how I hope AMD gets it together or we wont be seeing low prices on Intels side. Maybe the profit they made from the 48xx series will give them a little more spending money? :).
