i was thinking of building a new comp, mainly for gaming. i was thinking of puttin an AMD 3700+ in but i saw that i said i ran at 2.2ghz, does this mean that it is equal to running a intel 2.2ghz chip??

No way. A 2.2GHz AMD is much, much faster than a 2.2GHz Intel (assuming you are talking about the Pentium 4).

Generally, the AMD chips include a 3400 or something at the end of their description. This gives a BALLPARK description of what the equivalent speed of a P4 chip would be. Not exact, but it's just provided to give you an idea of the general comparability.

the dual cores x2 would be not bad, 3800+ and up....also the 3700+ that you were looking at is a pretty good chip, i have it and it does everything i need it to do....

really to recommend something we need a price range, like you can buy the best proc out for like $1000, but thats prolly out of your price range...

i was lookin at the cpu you have in your signature, how fast is it really? does it beat a 3.2 P4? also the 7800GT video card is this good?

i'd wait for conroe to release in late july. thats when AMD will lower prices a ton.
but just for general use i'd get a 3000+ and a 7600gt for a budget comp... and an X2 3800+ and a 7900gt for a better configuration.

If you need help on your whole system setup, post one thread in the desktop computer section. That way you can get all your questions answered in one place instead of 6 or 7.
